IB Course Offerings
The IB program at Oakmont offers courses of study in six subjects and a Core: Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Action and Service (CAS).
To earn an IB Diploma, three of the six subjects must be offered at the Higher Level and the rest at the Standard Level. All Higher Level subjects are studied over two years. Standard Level subjects are studied over two years and some may be completed in one year. At the Higher Level, course work covers a greater range and depth of content and requires more instructional time. The Core: EE, TOK and CAS are required to earn the IB Diploma.
To help decide which course work is appropriate for each student, families are recommended to review the document links which explains the course details and IB assessments. Families should also reference the Planning Your Four Years page.
