California College Fee Waiver
The Placer County VA College Fee Waiver helps eligible children of U.S. veterans pay for college in California by waiving mandatory tuition and system-wide fees at California Community Colleges, California State Universities, and University of California campuses. To qualify, students must meet specific criteria based on their relationship to a veteran and the veteran’s service-connected disability or service history. Students must apply each academic year through the Placer County Veterans Service Office and submit required documents showing eligibility. This benefit does not cover books, housing, parking, or other campus fees.
How to Apply:
- Gather Documents and Complete Application:
- Download the DVS 40 application from the College Fee Waiver Web Page
- Review and complete the items on the College Fee Waiver Checklist
- Please note that only the Student's income and parent's contribution is limited. If the student is not required to file federal taxes, then their Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is zero.
- Parent's contribution or parent support is any money to be contributed to the student for college. (College housing, books, transportation, medical care, other college fees, etc.)
